Bradford’s Rug Gallery is a full service rug and carpet boutique located in Portland, Maine. In addition to our assortment of in stock area rugs and samples, we offer the following services.
Custom Hand Made Area Rugs
- Custom shapes, sizes, colors, and patterns available. Build on an existing pattern or create a custom rug from the ground up.
Custom Fabrication
- Select from our curated selected of broadloom carpet samples and cut and bound to custom size and shape. Finishing options include fabric binding in a variety of widths and materials, wool, cotton and poly serge yarn.
Professional Installation
- We specialize in wool and natural fiber products from prominent designer brands. Our expert carpet installer is one of the best in the area and together we can handle everything from simple and straight to fully custom and unique. Please stop by the showroom and we will help you select products that are appropriate for your stairs. Samples can be taken home for 5 days and once a product is selected we will measure in the home and provide an estimate.
Rugs on Approval
- When selecting a new area rug, whether in stock or to be custom ordered, we encourage you to take rugs home on a 3 day approval. This allows you to see your selections in the actual space before making a commitment.
Area Rug Cleaning
Hand washing
- For open backed rugs: Hand knotted, hand woven
- Moth and/or urine treatments available for additional charges
- 4-6 week turnaround
Machine Washing
- For rugs with backing: Hand hooked, hand tufted
- 2 week turnaround

Buying Vintage & Antique Rugs:
We buy and trade select vintage and antique rugs. If you have a rug you are interested in selling please email us at info@bradfordsruggallery.com, include details about the rug, as well as photos. We will assess the photos and get back to you with further details. All rugs will need to be seen in person before any offers can be made.

Sustainability:
We are constantly searching the industry for innovative green products and make every effort to reduce our resource and energy consumption. Bradford’s is committed to supporting sustainable products and environmentally conscious companies. Research and experience has taught us that rugs crafted completely by hand can be the most environmentally friendly, both for the earth and its people. Hand crafted rugs are created most often in 100% virgin wool, hand spun and hand carded by individuals in the rug producing region. Purchasing a hand crafted rug is an investment for generations to enjoy and is at least one commodity in our lives that should never end up in a landfill.
Green Options:
- We carry "dark green" and LEED certification approved wool broadloom products. Often these are woven with un-dyed natural wool fiber with organic and biodegradable jute backing and low VOC latex.
