2025 U.S. Tariff

Today U.S. imposed tariffs on Indian imported textiles increased to 50%. This is truly devastating news to our industry. From U.S. retailers and importers to exporters and weavers in India, this is an unnecessary politically motivated tactic designed to bully the Indian government into stopping their purchase of Russian oil.
When shopping on our web site, you will notice a surcharge added to many products. When shopping in our store, rugs that are marked with an orange sticker are subject to an 18% tariff surcharge. Rugs marked with a green sticker are subject to a 10% tariff surcharge. This applies to orders only.

On August 7th 2025, a 25% tariff was imposed on Indian textile imports, an increase from the 10% baseline tariff that went into effect on April 9, 2025. The Indian tariff is scheduled to increase to 50% on August 27th. Imported products make up about 90% of our product offerings and Indian imports upwards of 60%. If tariffs increase yet again, trade with India will effectively cease. US importers, retailers and consumers will not accept the increase in costs.
Sadly we are at the mercy of our governing bodies. Weaving facilities in India have been in operation for generations, this is their craft and their export. While export opportunities exist outside of the U.S, the industry cannot continue without our consumers. If manufacturing stops and weavers leave, will it begin again? No other country or population can replace what the Indian people bring to rug making. Beautiful, hand crafted rugs are made across the globe but the scale and diversity of products the Indian people produce will forever be unrivaled.
Until August, 27th all listed prices on Indian made products are dependent on stock being present in the U.S at the time of order. For items not in our store, we will happily check the status of products and provide a firm quote valid until August 26th. On September 1st, 2025 an 18% surcharge will be placed on most Indian imported goods regardless of their location at time of order.
